McWHORTER RESIDENCE Stained concrete floors and site collected stone throughout the interior and exterior of the building make up the thermal mass. Large roof overhangs shade the expansive window areas in the hot summer months to keep the building from overheating. The building is constructed with insulated concrete forms that are fire-proof and made with recycle foam. Metal roofing over insulated roof panels help reduce heat gain through the roof and reduce noise in the interior. Moss rock that was collected from the site has been incorporated with stucco to help blend this home with the site. Paints and stains with no or low VOC's will be used for finishes. The house has been
blended into the site rather that placed on the site. Levels
change with the contours to help keep the house low and connected to the
site.
